Is Your Waistband Too Tight Today? Strategies for Beating Belly Bloat

Have you ever found that in the a.m. your pants fit fine but by mid-afternoon, the waistband squeezes you like a tourniquet?  Or that no matter how many crunches you do, your stomach still hangs out?  Getting rid of a potbelly is much more than just doing abdominal exercises.  In this workshop, you will learn the main causes and six strategies for getting rid of belly bloat.  We will do a few exercises designed to strengthen the deepest layer of abdominal muscle - the layer that is responsible for flattening your stomach, shaping your waistline, and supporting your lower back. And we will do this without getting on the floor.

Alzheimer's and other dementias cause memory, thinking, and behavior problems that interfere with daily living.  Join Kailea Lalka, with the Alzheimer's Association of WNY, for this informative session.  Participants will learn how to recognize common signs of the disease, how to approach someone about memory concerns, the importance of early detection, and benefits of a diagnosis.  Also covered in the session are possible tests and assessments for the diagnostic process, as well as Alzheimer's Association resources.

Take the guesswork out of gardening! Nora Saintz of Gardentte Garden Design and Consulting Service, is excited to provide her years of professional experience to help local homeowners create successful gardens. This course provides practical, easy-to-follow advice that makes gardening accessible to all.

Course topics include: Landscape design fundamentals; Plant combination ideas for container gardens; Solutions for wet, shady, and other difficult-to-plant areas; Low-maintenance, deer-resistant plant options.

Participants are encouraged to bring in photos of their yards for specific design advice. A Q&A session will be held at the end to cover any garden-related topics not covered during class.

*Students are to bring a notebook and pen.

Weight Loss Plan and Support - R3

Each student will learn how to shift their bodies from fat storage mode to fat-burning mode and eat foods they like.  You can look forward to losing weight and learning how to maintain a healthy weight.  An overview from a Wellness Co. will be presented to introduce more tools to help with the six-week eating plan.  Supportive ideas and recipes as well as numerous success stories will be shared on a Facebook group (R3 Weight Loss Plan) with over 100,000 participants.  Anyone can do this six-week eating plan! You will be given the background of where this eating plan originated and a cookbook with all the necessary instructions to help guide your meal choices.  No counting calories, and there are Yes and No lists of foods.  You can choose whatever you want on these lists.  Shopping lists and meal planning will be included in this class.  Invite your friends and use this season to lose some weight and be a healthier you!

Medicare is confusing!  What are parts A, B, C & D?  When do I have to enroll?  What will I pay?  What are Medicare Advantage Plans and Medicare Supplement Plans?  What about late enrollment penalties?  What kind of plans might work best for me?  Join Jason Myers, owner of JBM Health & Wealth Consulting, LLD who will help you understand how the Medicare program works and will provide a general overview of the variety of Medicare insurance products that are available to beneficiaries.  

Cookie Decorating - Mother's Day Cut Outs

Participants will learn how to create a Mason jar flower arrangement using cut out cookies.  Rachel Jolbert, owner of Three Little Hens Baking Co. will lead participants in the decoration of eight cut out cookies using royal icing.  Tips and tricks for making the perfect cut out cookies and royal icing will be provided during this fun-filled evening! 

California Sushi Roll Extravaganza! - Online

Join Tess as she walks you through the steps to make a variety of the most marvelous California rolls that will make you wonder why you haven't tried to make your own before. California "sushi" roll combinations are only limited by your imagination! Make them vegetarian, with or without seaweed, spicy or not - it is totally up to you! Participants will learn the skills of creating delicious seasoned sushi rice, spicy mayo, and how to shape, wrap and stuff the rolls with wonderful filling ingredients. One of these filling is a "crab" salad that will be created using crabsticks. If participants wish to shop early, some supplies are: Sushi rice, sushi nori/seawood sheets, toasted sesame oil (Japanese), rice vinegar. Bamboo sushi rolling mat can be helpful, but not necessary. Additional ingredients will be listed on the information packet.

Participants will receive login information as well as a list of ingredients 5-7 days prior to class start date to allow for shopping and prep.  A professionally created PDF packet of the instructor's personal recipe as well as an invitation to join Tess's private and public Facebook group will be issued. 

*One registration fee can include ADULT participants from the same household only.

Learn solo, with your significant other, or spouse and make lasting memories in your kitchen learning to make these amazing meals.  While cooking-along is loads of fun, it is optional.  Have your questions answered by the instructor and interact with other participants and support each other during this fun and informative two-hour virtual class!
