"A Christmas Story House" - Cleveland, Ohio
with Know How Tours
We're on our way to Cleveland, Ohio! Meet the Step On Guide and begin touring. Our first stop of the day is the West Side Market. With origins of the land dating back to 1840, the West Side Market is Cleveland's oldest publicly owned market. Today the market is home to over 100 vendors of great ethnic diversity. You can find not only fine meats and fresh vegetables, but also fresh seafood, baked good, dairy and cheese products, and even fresh flowers. There are also booths that sell ready-to-eat foods, herbs, candy and nuts. Tourists from all over the world tour the market every year drawn by television programs produced by the Travel Channel and Food Network featuring segments on the West Side Market. Sokolowski's University Inn specializes in Polish and East European cuisine. Enjoy a cafeteria style lunch, which includes dessert and beverage. Our highlight of the day is saved for our last stop - "A Christmas Story House". "A Christmas Story House", now restored to its movie splendor, is open year round to the public for tours. Directly across the street from the house is "A Christmas Story Museum", which features original props, costumes, and memorabilia from the film, as wel as hundreds of rare behind-the-scenes photos. Among the props and costumes are the toys from the Higee's window, Randy's snowsuit, the chalkboard from Miss Shield's classroom and the family car. After reliving "A Christmas Story" at Ralphie's house, don't forget to visit the museum gift shop for your own Major Award Leg Lamp and other great movie memorabilia. A fast food stop (on your own) will be made en route home.
