Adverse Childhood Experiences - ACEs

This class has been designed to deepen your understanding of the science and research behind Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the health impacts these traumas and stressors can have on a person's life, education and health outcomes. Our young chidren and teens are especially at risk for the immediate and long-term negative effects of ACEs. A recovery guide for parents, teachers and community leaders is offered by the Child Mind Institute and will be reviewed during the class. Resources are available for anyone seeking assistance with addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACEs.

Group Snare Drum
with Joseph Smith
Join accomplished musician, Joe Smith of D'Amico Music, for a hands-on approach to playing snare drum rudiments. Students will explore the 26 rudiments of snare drumming as well as the history and evolution of the drum set.
*Students need drum pads and sticks.
COST: $22 each session or $200 for 10 sessions

Decoding Music I

This 13-session course will explore the elements that make the songs we know and love work. Each student will be asked to pick a song or songs at the beginning of the class. Accomplished musician Scott Nestler will lead the group through dissection of the elements including beats and rhythm, theory, harmony/chord progressions, sounds, effects and production, styles and genres, relevance and reception on release, myths and legends pertaining to the music and more. A guitar and instruments will be available to demonstrate parts. Plan for open discussions about music and exposure to things off your radar. Whether you are a musician or a fan, you will get something out of this class!
