Adverse Childhood Experiences - ACEs

This class has been designed to deepen your understanding of the science and research behind Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the health impacts these traumas and stressors can have on a person's life, education and health outcomes.  Our young chidren and teens are especially at risk for the immediate and long-term negative effects of ACEs.  A recovery guide for parents, teachers and community leaders is offered by the Child Mind Institute and will be reviewed during the class.  Resources are available for anyone seeking assistance with addressing Adverse Childhood Experiences or ACEs.  

Classes are offered Mondays, 9/27, 10/18, 11/22/2021

Group Snare Drum

Calendar Sep 27, 2021 at 6 pm, runs for 9 weeks

Join accomplished musician, Joe Smith of D'Amico Music, for a hands-on approach to playing snare drum rudiments. Students will explore the 26 rudiments of snare drumming as well as the history and evolution of the drum set.

*Students need drum pads and sticks.

COST:  $22 each session or $200 for 10 sessions

Emotional Release for Inner Peace

Inner peace is impossible to maintain while we still hold onto the very feelings and beliefs that keep us from being peaceful to begin with. Trapped negative emotions like fear, anger, and sorrow can disrupt the flow of vital energy in our bodies and actually sabotage our inner peace. In this single evening course you will learn simple, yet effective techniques, for getting in touch with understanding, accepting and releasing the emotions that keep us from ourselves. Nobody wants to suffer. Come learn to rest in the peaceful state of loving acceptance that is our true nature.

4-Hour SAT Boot Camp

Get a jump start on your SAT test preparation! While many colleges have gone test optional, the early data has shown that students who submit SAT or ACT test scores have an admissions advantage. This two-session comprehensive course introduces students to the SAT test with emphasis on test-taking strategies, testing information, how to best prepare for the SAT test, and practice questions in each subject. Secrets of Happiness

Decoding Music I

This 13-session course will explore the elements that make the songs we know and love work. Each student will be asked to pick a song or songs at the beginning of the class. Accomplished musician Scott Nestler will lead the group through dissection of the elements including beats and rhythm, theory, harmony/chord progressions, sounds, effects and production, styles and genres, relevance and reception on release, myths and legends pertaining to the music and more. A guitar and instruments will be available to demonstrate parts. Plan for open discussions about music and exposure to things off your radar. Whether you are a musician or a fan, you will get something out of this class!


Meditation for Relaxation and Personal Healing

Meditation is a simple, easy to learn practice that involves focusing your thoughts and your breathing to help you relax into the present moment. In this interactive course you will learn the empowering concepts and techniques for successful personal meditation and will find the support in crafting your own meditation regimen. Come experience for yourself the abundance of inner peace, personal health, and spiritual connection that come from meditation.

Savvy Social Security for Women

Investment consultant Genna Chmiel will lead this workshop designed for women to understand what they need to know to maximize their retirement income. Some questions answered include: How can I maximize my Social Security benefit? Are there survivor benefits if my husband or ex-husband dies? Are there divorced spouse benefits? How do I coordinate benefits with my spouse? How will remarriage affect my benefit?
